Crisis Resources
If you lost your place to live and had to move, there is help for you. Your child can continue to attend school. There are several national and state-level resources available to you to assist with housing, food, services for veterans, and concerns about domestic violence, mental health, safety, abuse, and neglect.
Your Child’s Education
Your local McKinney-Vento liaison can help to:
- Make sure your child is enrolled in school
- Identify community resources
- Get information about summer programming and next school year when it is available
Housing

- Tenant protection and other information related to evictions is changing rapidly. Virginia Poverty Law Center maintains a housing resources page with current information and how to find help.
- Homeless and Special Needs Housing – Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development
- Eviction Legal Helpline: 1-833-NoEvict or 1-833-663-8428 – provides phone-based legal services for tenants facing eviction or lease termination.
Food & Other Needs

- Common Help – help with food, childcare, heating and cooling bills, health care and cash assistance
