This training module explains the McKinney-Vento Act definition of homeless; outlines educational barriers faced by children and youth who experience homelessness; describes the significant role that school staff plays and the action steps necessary to address educational barriers for these children and youth; and highlights the resources available to support students in homeless situations. After completing this training module, take the quiz and earn a score of 80% or better to receive a certificate that documents successful completion of the McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program: Training for Virginia Public School Staff course. This certificate of completion will verify content mastery and engagement time for potential professional development hours/points. Your employer will determine whether professional development points/hours are awarded. McKinney-Vento liaisons can access these quiz results to verify training has been completed by school staff.
